Venom 3 The Last Dance Movie Review

Venom 3 The Last Dance is the concluding chapter of the Venom trilogy, marking the end of Tom Hardy’s journey as Eddie Brock and his infamous alien symbiote. This final installment brings fresh challenges for the lethal protector, but does it stick the landing? In this Venom 3 movie review, we dive into the chaotic, bizarre, and sometimes nostalgic final act of this wild ride.

The Plot: A Dance With Symbiote Hunters

This time around, the story introduces new alien antagonists—symbiote hunters from Venom’s homeworld. These hunters come to Earth, targeting Venom because he holds the key to freeing their leader, a menacing figure named Knull, who feels reminiscent of the Lich King from the World of Warcraft universe. While Knull’s introduction feels epic, it’s also a little contrived, borrowing from familiar fantasy elements.

Venom essentially becomes a living beacon, much like Frodo with the One Ring. The symbiote hunters can sense Venom whenever Eddie Brock fully transforms, setting the stage for a cross-country chase filled with bickering, odd-couple humor, and alien action. The movie plays up the unique dynamic between Eddie and Venom, which has been the heart of the series. Their love-hate relationship is once again the comedic glue that holds the film together.

The Action: Familiar Yet Fun

As the movie progresses, it becomes clear that Venom 3: The Last Dance is less about deep storytelling and more about delivering action-packed sequences. From Area 55 (because Area 51 is apparently outdated) to the streets of Las Vegas, the film is filled with outrageous alien battles. Eddie Brock is pursued by both the symbiote hunters and the military, and at one point, things escalate into a surreal dance sequence set to ABBA’s Dancing Queen, an undeniably strange yet entertaining moment.

While the film borrows elements from video games and earlier comic book films, it sometimes struggles to maintain its focus. The chaotic symbiote action can be overwhelming, and as the final act unfolds, the plot holes start to pile up. Despite the nonsensical elements, the action sequences are visually fun, bringing in some nostalgia for mid-2000s superhero movies.

Character Performances: Wasted Potential

Tom Hardy once again delivers a solid performance as Eddie Brock. His portrayal of the broken yet determined journalist continues to be the emotional anchor of the film. However, many of the supporting actors, including Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, feel underutilized. Their characters are introduced with promise but are ultimately reduced to background roles, serving the plot rather than driving it.

One notable misstep is Rhys Ifans, whose appearance teases something more substantial but never quite delivers. The movie seems content to sprinkle in recognizable faces for quick moments, leaving audiences wondering what could have been if they were given more to do.

Venom 3 The Verdict: A Mixed Bag

Venom 3: The Last Dance is, in many ways, a reflection of the trilogy as a whole—fun, chaotic, and often nonsensical. The movie leans heavily into the bickering dynamic between Eddie and Venom, but falters when it comes to delivering a cohesive story. Fans of the first two films will likely find enough to enjoy, especially if they embrace the absurdity, but those hoping for a satisfying conclusion may be left wanting more.

In terms of improvement, this film is a step up from Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but it still struggles with pacing, plot holes, and underdeveloped characters. It’s a wild, sometimes confusing ride, but for fans of the franchise, it’s one worth taking. Just don’t expect a perfect symbiosis of story and action from the movie Venom 3.

Final Thoughts: Should You Watch Venom 3?

If you enjoyed the previous Venom movies, then Venom 3: The Last Dance is a must-watch. It’s the messy, explosive end to a trilogy that never quite found its footing, but still provided plenty of entertainment along the way. On the other hand, if you were hoping for a more refined, critically acclaimed conclusion, you may leave the theater scratching your head.
